|
The first generation Acura MDX was first introduced in 2001 around the
same time when luxury SUV's still featured body-on-frame construction.
Also during the this time, the MDX out witted the numerous SUV top end
car based by offering the consumers a standard third row seats that can
be handily folded well in the cargo floor. It shared a single body
platform with the first generation Honda Pilot and the second generation
Honda Odyssey. It featured a 240 h.p., 3.5 liters V6 and an all wheel
drive system ( AWD ) that will automatically transfer power from front
to back for a more optimal gripping power. The high standard of gear
was also there. An MDX touring package include an evolve stereo, a dual
power front seat and a roof racks while the navigation system was a
stand alone option. The second generation Acura MDX on the other
hand was initially introduced in 2003 and was boosted with a further
20hp. Its framework was also reinforced, the brakes got an upgrade and
the suspension was retuned. The MDX still maintained its
family-friendly feature but made a noticeable upgrade with its design,
handling and in its performance. This model also got an upgrade in its
power and received a stronger V6 engine. The all wheel drive system was
also upgraded calling it now as SH-AWD or Super Handling All Wheel
Drive. The current Acura MDX today offers both sporty performance
and characteristics in handling. Its new length at 78.5 inches from
shoulder to shoulder gives it an athletic, sporty appearance. This most
recent version of MDX features a three hundred horsepower 3.7 Liters V6
and a five speed auto transmission. It also got an upgrade in its
traction for bad weathers, and because of its SH-AWD it now has the
capacity to channel 100 pc of its power to one of its wheel depending on
the condition. It also allows the outer rear wheel to quickly
accelerate giving more handling ability.
